How To Live Everywhere | Kickstart Life’s Next Chapter By Living Abroad

      Blog Post 1

The last few years have taught us that life may be turned upside at any moment. If there’s something you’re dying to accomplish, a destination you must see, or an experience you can’t live without having, now is the time to go for it. If the monotony of the day-to-day grind is starting to weigh you down, it may be time for a change.

Moving abroad, momentarily or permanently, will undoubtedly have a significant impact on your life. The challenges we face when navigating foreign cultures and customs on a daily basis force us to grow, adapt, and, ultimately, become better people. If you’re yearning for new, fresh experiences and want to start a new chapter in life, move abroad. To find out How To Live Everywhere and Kickstart Life’s Next Chapter By Living Abroad continue reading below.

      Become More Self-Reliant

Starting anew anywhere is challenging, especially abroad. When living abroad, things like paying bills, navigating a city, and buying groceries present opportunities for us to learn and grow. While completing daily tasks while living abroad may seem overwhelming at first, they’ll teach you to problem solve in new ways. As Miyamoto Musashi, the ancient samurai sage of Japan, said, “It may seem difficult at first, but all things are difficult at first.” Eventually, the challenges you face abroad will further prepare you for life’s hardships. As any expatriate will tell you, the joys they get from living abroad far outweigh any hardships they encounter.

      Become a Better Communicator

Moving to a new country, even if that country is English speaking, requires heightened communication skills. When we travel and live abroad, we’re forced to learn new languages and become familiar with a country’s unique slang and customs. On my travels, I’ve found that it’s important to slow down and simplify my speech when talking with non-native English speakers. Communication is largely nonverbal, and traveling abroad teaches us to utilize our body language to become more effective communicators from the streets to the boardroom.

      Make New Friends

Though you may move abroad alone, you’re becoming a part of a massive community of expatriates. Moving abroad can feel isolating, so it’s important to plug into the existing networks of expatriates in your desired destination. A quick search on Google or Facebook will likely turn up dozens of results of groups and clubs that are eager to welcome you to your new home. Many of these people will be plugged into the community, country, or cities opportunities.

Boost Your Resume And Build New Professional Connections

Whether you’re moving abroad for work, taking time off, or embracing the digital nomad life, living abroad will introduce you to a plethora of professional connections and help you stand out from your peers. Additionally, professionals working abroad tend to make more money than their domestic peers. Many professionals find that living, training, and working abroad gives them a competitive edge over their competition.

      Take Up A New Hobby

Moving abroad gives us a chance to try new things, whether it’s new food, learning a new skill, or taking up a new hobby. If you’re moving to the beach, take a surf lesson. If you’re headed to the mountains, take up skiing or hiking. Are you moving to a culinary-rich zone? Then, take cooking lessons and dive into the local cuisine face first. The opportunities to try new things and learn new skills are endless while living abroad.

      Travel More

Living abroad allows us to travel and explore new cultures, both within your new home country and in the neighboring nations. If you’re moving to Europe, you have access to all Schengan sanctioned EU countries (26 total), no passport needed. Flights outside the US are typically cheaper than domestic US flights, and living in Europe or Asia will give you access to affordable high speed rail lines. Hop on a plane or train for the weekend, get out there and see the world.

      Challenge Your Worldview

Traveling and living abroad introduces us to people from all walks of life. Members of your new social circle will likely have diverse backgrounds and each will bring a unique point of view to any issue at hand. Traveling abroad forces us to reexamine our values from a global perspective and challenges us to think beyond our own customs and beliefs.

      So, What’re You Waiting For?

Traveling and living abroad boosts our creativity, forces us to constantly think critically, helps us become better communicators, and so much more. If you’re ready to turn the page to the next chapter of your life, one filled with wonder, then it’s time to invest in adventure!
